We stopped at this deli for a break and had fun explaining why we were in the middle of Ohio on a bicycle!
And we are off on day 2. It is spitting rain but the wind is at our back. We've just left Cedarville on the Rail to Trail headed to London. Our lunch stop today was in London where we enjoyed peanut butter & sugar on flat bread as we drank our orange and cranberry juices! Today we rode 55 miles on the Ohio to Erie Trail between Xenia and Galloway where the trail ended. We had the wind at our back all day long so it was fun riding along at 20+mph. We were surprised to be riding alongside a working track. There were also old ballast and power poles next to the trail. We began this leg of our journey in LaGrange, KY as we celebrated Alex's graduation from high school. Our eldest grandson Michael volunteered to ride with us from Cathy's house to Al & Sue's on the northeast side of Cincinnati so that he could take the car back to KY. Michael enjoyed a nap on the way to Ohio, had lunch with us and then drove back to KY. We enjoyed lunch with them before departing on our ride to Xenia, OH. This leg of our trip we will be riding unsupported, pulling our trailer and staying in hotels. Our ice cream snack break at Hart's Dairy Whip before entering the bike trail at Morrow, OH. Nancy & Sue took good care of us! Got on the Little Miami Scenic Trail at Morrow. We asked a biker who was taking a break just before the bridge if this was the way to Xenia only to find out we were going the wrong way! Glad we found out quickly! We got to ride this bridge twice as we turned around! Maybe we'll have to plan a stay here in Spring Valley next time! We arrived safely at our motel in Xenia about 7pm after a great ride! |
Phil & Carol AnnIt is now our 55th and after a 4 year break, we are back to continue our ride! Join us as we work our way across Michigan...going a little backwards! Archives
