Day Five actually began at Old Log Resort & Campground in Marion...it should have been named Old Log Resort & Mosquito Haven! There has been so much rain that the mosquitoes were beyond obnoxious! We decided we would drive up the road just a bit so we could unload the bikes and begin our day without being eaten alive! Oh, and the van started up like a champ this morning! Go Phil!! We drove about a mile up the road to this nice pull-off to unload the bike. Nick is great at climbing up onto the tire to unlock the front of the tandem! |
Lake Station had a great setup for helping out cyclists on the trail! They had a bike repair stand, tire pump and even tools!
Have bikes, will travel! We adapted the rack a bit with some bungee cords so we didn't have to have a bike in the RV. It's been a great week of riding! We finished today with 45 miles and 147 for the four days of riding. Not a bad start to getting back in the saddle! We headed south out of Sanford, MI and made a stop in Alma to drive around Alma College so Cathy could reminisce a bit! Then, we ate dinner at Pizza Sam's in Alma before heading south to Sturgis. |
